The Grand Launching of COMPFEST
Posted on April 28, 2019

On April 26, 2019, the eleventh iteration of COMPFEST, the biggest tech event in Indonesia, started its journey by conducting a grand launching event.

COMPFEST brought a variety of exhibitors and speakers for its grand launching. The exhibitors set up their booths in the mall-like library building of UI, while the speakers held a seminar in the hall that sat next to the lake nearby.

The part of the grand launching that took place in the library was very festive. The event relied on a stamp-system to reward visitors for visiting booths. Before going on a stamp-collecting adventure, visitors had to register themselves in the information booth, which had games of its own like dart, halal beer pong and wheel of fortune. Then they’d get to visit the booths held by the exhibitors to learn more about them and collect stamps. The more booths you visit and the more games you played, the more stamps you’d get. You can then trade those stamps for a variety of merchandise, or try your luck on the “explore IT” machine that would give you a random prize in exchange for some stamps.

There were a total of 6 exhibitors. They were Indodax, a marketplace connecting buyers and sellers of Digital Assets such as bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, Jakarta Smart City, an application focused on optimizing the utilization of technology for resource management, Poinin, an application that provides promos and discounts, Sampingan, a platform that connects businesses with trained agents via part time jobs, Replus, a growing startup that focuses on making products that are more energy efficient, and Mapan, a tech based enterprise that aims to improve people’s quality of life.

Andi, the lead consultant of Indodax, thinks that cryptocurrency is the solution for clean and transparent exchanges and Dandi, a representative of Sampingan, felt that connecting people with jobs were much easier with tech. Both of them think that technology improves their respective fields’ effectiveness. A couple of visitors said that they were glad to be there and were looking forward for the main event down the road.

Overall, the grand launching of COMPFEST was a success, with lots of people now aware of the event, learning more about the exhibitors, and having fun at the same time. It’s great to see more tech enthusiasts out there, and it’s even greater to show them why they should be tech enthusiasts. (Editorial Marketing/Kyo)
