Capture The Flag is a competition that tests the ability of participants in the fields of web hacking, cryptography, digital forensics, reverse engineering, and binary exploitation. A total of 299 teams registered themselves for this competition. Before the preliminary round, COMPFEST facilitated Hacker Class for the participants to help them know deeper about the fields that will be contested.

On Sunday, September 8, 2019, 10 finalists took part in the final round of the Capture The Flag (CTF) competition. The race lasted about 6 hours. After the competition had finished, COMPFEST had the opportunity to interview Sejuta Kerinduan team as one of the contestants.

“We are participating in this competition because we already have basic CTF skill and we want to improve it. We want to gain experience and make friends (with other contestants), and we want to be champions,” they said when we asked about their reasons for joining COMPFEST. They were happy to take part in this year’s CTF COMPFEST competition because the problems offered were exciting and challenging. Besides hacking, they also deepen their skills in programming.

When asked about their experience in this competition they implied, “Fun and interesting. The questions vary from easy to difficult, said one member of Sejuta Kerinduan. Even though the questions were more difficult than during the preliminary round, they were happy to be able to take part in this competition.

“The competition is already good. It has been cool for this year’s COMPFEST final event, ” they said as they closed the interview session.

The champion of this competition is Stan LOOΠΔ! team, followed by Magbanua Inc. as 1st Runner Up and team (ﾉ ◕ ヮ ◕) ﾉ *: · ﾟ ✧ as 2nd Runner Up. In addition, honorable mentions were given to Kuliah Kerja NGEGAS and Kulyeah Kerjaa NANGID.
